Good morning, Portland! It’s another rainy fall day with highs in the mid 50s.

In local news:

• Oregon could pass the strongest gun law in the US with Measure 114 this November. Abe Asher details why gun control supporters are split on the measure, with some raising equity concerns over its implementation.

• Congrats to our beloved Portland Thorns for winning their semi-final game against the San Diego Wave this weekend (catch the highlights here). The Thorns are now on their way to Washington DC to play Kansas City this Saturday, October 29. Here’s where you can watch the game in town.

• Culver Schools, a small school district in central Oregon, yanked its students from Outdoor School earlier this month minutes after learning there were nonbinary counselors at the camp. Superintendent Stefanie Garber alleged that there were students who felt uncomfortable changing and showering with a nonbinary person in a cabin. According to the camp, there are private changing rooms students are made aware of and campers don’t shower during the three-day trip.

• ICYMI:

• Celebrate hump day with a screening of HUMP! this Wednesday, October 26, at Revolution Hall!

In national news:

• Adidas is dropping its partnership with Kanye West following antisemitic comments the rapper and designer made earlier this month. It’s notable that Adidas is cutting ties, given the shoe brand stood by West’s side in 2018 when he claimed that 400 years of slavery was a “choice.” Adidas started reviewing its partnership with West after he wore a “White Lives Matter” shirt to a fashion show in Paris earlier this month, but ultimately chose to officially sever the relationship after West repeatedly made antisemitic comments—which in turn reignited scrutiny over Adidas’s founder’s Nazi ties.

• Over a dozen different dry shampoo products are being recalled due to potentially containing elevated levels of benzene, a carcinogen. The brands include Dove, Nexxus, Suave, TRESemmé, and TIGI, and all of the recalled products were made before October 2021.

• In obligatory bad climate news: Emperor penguins have been listed as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act.

• Let's end with some seasonal bear content:
